
Charles Brace
Charles Brace attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison, where he majored in English – Creative Writing and Political Science. He also was Editor-In-Chief of the daily campus newspaper The Daily Cardinal and graduated in 2010, after which he worked on the 2010 US Senate campaign of Sen. Russ Feingold. Charles briefly taught high school English in Chicago’s Albany Park neighborhood in 2011 and then worked on the 2012 Presidential campaign of Barack Obama in the digital department. He was later hired by the Chicago advertising firm Adelstein Liston (now AL Media) and published his first novel, Anatomy Summer, in November 2021. He is a blackbelt in Shuri-Ryu karate and keenly interested in fiction, astronomy and empathy.
Anatomy Summer is his debut novel. Set in 1969 in the fictional town of Apple Harbor, Michigan, nursing student Nessie must ally with alcoholic police detective Daniel as a series of grisly murders paralyze the community. Meanwhile, the charismatic Clay stalks the campus with impunity. Gender, class, race and the Vietnam War all collide for a summer like no other.
Charles is currently hard at work on his third novel, the science fiction epic Tenyokin.
